AMPS Mission Statement
Arizona Model Pilots Society Inc., is a non-profit organization formed for the following purposes:
To fly as a guest pilot at one of our air show/fly-in events, you must have a valid AMA, FAA Drone Registration and the Drone Registration Number Externally Displayed on Pilot/Owner Aircraft and a UAS Safety Test – TRUST completion certificate.
To fly as a guest at the AMPS field, arrangements must be made with an AMPS Hosting Member. Guests can fly up to three separate times and must request to fly as a guest each time.

If you are considering becoming an RC pilot contact one of our AMPS Certified Flight Instructors for free flight lessons and club orientation.
If you are a seasoned pilot joining AMPS you must contact one of our AMPS Certified Flight Instructors prior to your first flight for a required check-out flight and club orientation after membership acceptance.
Steps to Become a Member of the Arizona Model Pilots Society
Step 1> To become a member of the Arizona Model Pilots Society (AMPS) you must be a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) youth or adult. Click on the following link for more information on how to become an AMA member Academy of Model Aeronautics .
Step 2> Compliance with the FAA regulations in obtaining a Drone FAA Registration and Drone Registration Number which must be placed on the outside of each of your RC models is mandatory. There is a US $5.00 cost for three years to the FAA. Click on this link here for more details (Note: the website will say "Drone" but it is also for fixed wing, rotor and multi-rotor, etc., just follow the steps on the screen) - https://faadronezone-access.faa.gov/#/ .
Step 3> You will also need to complete at no charge, the no fail Recreational UAS Safety Test – TRUST and carry the certificate of completion with you while flying. Click this link for more information https://www.modelaircraft.org/trust.
FAA and Recreational UAS Safety Test links are subject to change with out notice. Please search the FAA and or AMA web sites if this occurs.
Step 4> Download and complete the AMPS 2025 Application and Renewal Form & Club Safety Rules from above. Please make sure you complete all the required blanks on the application to avoid delays. Without your AMA, Drone FAA Registration Number and confirmation of completing the UAS Safety Test - TRUST your application will not be processed. Return via USPS mail, with your membership application and payment to the address provided on the application.
If accepted for membership, you agree all model flights must be conducted in accordance with AMPS safety rules, related AMA, FAA rules and regulations. In addition, all applicable Maricopa County laws and regulations for the Adobe Dam Regional Park as posted at the flying field and available on respective online web sites.
Payment
1. New members pay $225.00. After which renewing members pay $100.00 in annual dues. Annual dues are due November 1st of each year and are considered late after January 31st.
2. New members joining AMPS after September 1, pay $225.00. Covering the following year and receive a paid-up status for any days remaining in the current year in which they join.
3. AMPS Family Plan waves youth membership under 19 years of age where parent, grandparent or legal guardian is an AMPS paid member in good standing. Youth AMPS members must have a Youth Membership from the AMA.
4. Youth membership is available to any current youth AMA member under the age of 19 for $10.00 in annual dues. A legal guardian must be with youth member while flying at the AMPS facility until 16 years of age. A completed AMPS Application & Renewal Form is required.
